I feel like they took the Jalopnik formula and copied it plus added lots more regurgitated news. Some of my former writers have worked there over the years, so I’m not saying it’s all bad.

Honestly, I don’t go to either; I just get an email from The Drive each day that every so often, I read. Just often enough that I haven’t bothered to unsubscribe.

Where do you work?

My main beef with Jalo is that the writing is meh and too frequently vulgar for my taste. I may be able to post a comment there now that’s not in the grey, but the site doesn’t hold my interest.

Oppo, on the other hand, is the best social media site I’ve ever participated in. The Ops are unfailingly considerate of each other and I have developed some good friendships here. So on that level, I am grateful for Jalopnik. I just never visit the site.

That’s all fair, I guess I just assume that most people here spend time on the FP.

I work for Doug and manage Right Foot Down . A few of the folks that wrote with/for me at RFD (3-4 total I believe) went on to write at The Drive.

I’ll check that out. I have a thing about writing. Even the most casual post I make here on Oppo, I take seriously, even if it’s something silly. Recently a Creative Writing professor I had in college suggested that I lacked the courage to do real writing of my own and I replied, “No, it’s too much work !”

Do you ever accept a submission in your space from a Regular Guy like me? I just bought a 2011 Mazda 3 that’s in outstanding shape and I’d enjoy writing a review of the car, but I wouldn’t make the effort here on Oppo because it would only get about 8 views. I can do very good photos as well.
